The Celtic Seas Partnership is a ‘stakeholder engagement’ project. What does this mean? Essentially, it means that we (the project team) will work with a number of stakeholders to deliver the different aspects of the project. The reason for this approach is to give people the opportunity to have their say and take an active role in managing and protecting the marine environment. Yes, this approach does involve a greater degree of commitment and effort from those who choose to get involved. But, the benefit is a greater chance of influencing and shaping future management decisions in the Celtic Seas.
There are a number of ways to get involved with the project. The main way that will be relevant and interesting to everyone, is our workshops and the development of management measures for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). Our aim with these activities is to give stakeholders a greater say in the development of the MSFD marine strategies for the Celtic Seas.
